The Acadami Origin Story:

  I, Founder Ami Davis, did not grow up in the best of ways. I have an ACE score of 9, for those that understand what that means. The short of it is, I have been through a lot of pain and really, really hard things since birth. Even my birth was scary, hence A-M-I (A Miracle Infant), because I am not supposed to be here. From a young age though, I was prone to peace keeping, optimism, and a fighting spirit. As I got older, that only grew in me.

  I worked as a restaurant server for a looooong time. There, I was able to learn patience, connection, and relationship building. I matured and learned a lot in that environment. That led me to a curiosity of human behavior and so I set out to get my psychology degree. During that time, I was offered a job at a non-profit domestic violence agency that would cultivate and introduce me to my passion for speaking, inspiring, and teaching. I started doing LGBTQIA+ education there during a time that people would regularly slam their door in my face over the topic. I have been escorted off of many school campuses, off of a military base, out of meetings, and even cut off in the middle of a training and asked to leave because I was educating people about inclusion and equity.

  I was lucky enough to continue working in non-profit for many years, trying to get people to listen about the importance of LGBTQIA+ equity, inclusion, and diversity as well as widening my scope to include becoming certified in Trauma Informed Care; Life Skills; Anger Management; Drug and Alcohol prevention and more! I got to manage a team of amazing in school counselors (many PPS) and build a restorative program from scratch! I loved it all. I loved connecting with youth especially and speaking in front of groups. I love educating in a fun and connective way. I am so grateful to have been able to learn and grow and get so much experience early in my career, alongside the education that I was building on.

  Eventually though, I realized that constantly molding myself to try to be what everyone else wanted and accepted was exhausting. The censorship and restriction of self that I felt in those years was deteriorating my spirit. I knew I had outgrown my agency and my willingness to conform just to be heard. I realized it was time to move on in a big way, thus, The Acadami was born. I decided to take a chance on myself. There are things I knew then, and even more so now, that I could not look past or continue to deny.

And so, The Acadami Core Values are:

     Growth - We believe that every experience offers us growth in some way or another; that there is a lesson in everything and that as beings, we are either growing or dying. We seek to encourage truly living through constant and steady growth in any and every way possible; for our team and our participants.

     Authenticity - We encourage our team members and audience members to engage in real, honest dialogue as that is the only way to true, sustainable change.

     Integrity - We will deliver what we promise or more.

     Freedom - We believe that everyone deserves to be seen and heard, as they are; so we seek to create spaces that celebrate autonomy and self-expression.

     Respect - We want all people who are a part of and engage with The Acadami to feel respected and valued, regardless of difficult conversations we may have. 

​

     Fun - Training doesn't have to be boring and it shouldn't be irrelevant! We want all participants to see and feel how our information will directly impact their lives in positive ways. And we want to have fun with them while doing that. We know that when people are having fun, they are learning best. 

​

     Appreciation - We believe that in business and in life, every being deserves to be appreciated for their unique and powerful contribution to our shared experience. It is our goal to instigate the strong flow of kindness and appreciation everywhere we go.
